Play Day!

What a fun day! Daddy is gone so us girls decided to bag the chores and play all day!
Heidi enjoyed being let loose in the toy room - it hasn't been baby proofed until a few days ago and was a difference! It's so much better to have them play in the toy room instead of in the living room! Baby loved it!!

Michaela entertaining me with many different faces - and picking her nose! She wil either love me or hate me one day for taking that!

Playing together! What a joy sister's are!

Bitter Sweet

Today, this sweet, chubby, angel baby is one! She is Lucy, and the sweetest, most easy going little girl on the planet. She is my sister's baby - and I love her. Her little life so far hasn't been so easy. She has had infection after infection, none of which are your common cold. It has been hormone imbalance, and fever's and ultrasounds and ct scans for this sweet baby. She also has Seizures - way to frequently. She is too little to diagnose what the cause of them are. So for now, she smiles and plays, and her parents hold her and love her. Lucy is Cherished, as she should be. She has a beautiful family, and a gorgeous big sister. Seriously, look at the pictures on my sister's blog - Winn Way - Reagan is breathtaking! Anyway, today is a celebration at the Winn house. Celebrate Lucy and her angelic little smile :) Happy, Happy Birthday Baby Lucy! -Update-Lucy has had 2 Seizures on her birthday and is back in the hospital for more tests.

Today is also a day of uncertainty. This is my nephew, Ethan. He turned one on Sep 9th. He is so sweet and smiley and again, treasured by all who know him. He is sick. He was diagnosed with Spinal Meningitis a few days ago, and isn't showing signs of improvement. So- we wait. We wait as a family, I wait as an Aunt, a friend, sister in law and fellow mother. He may never come back to us in the way that he was, but still, we want him, and will celebrate when our Sweet little Ethan returns - no matter the battle wounds, he will be a Hero.

Then there is Heidi. This all scares me so much! We are so grateful to know her, have her and especially that she is Healthy. They are all so close in age and all the uncertanty makes me want to hold her, and never put her down. I need to protect her, but sometimes feel so small in this big, scary world. How can I leave the house? What if something happens? What would I do?

That is when I remember. Heavenly Father knows what He is doing. I know that. I have felt that, many times before. If these babies have a trial, it was part of the Plan. They knew it before they came here, and just like you and I - they accepted the Plan. The were excited about it, and still are. "I am a Child of God, and He has sent me here." We have families - ETERNAL Families, to get us through. We will live with Him someday, and what a day of rejoicing it will be! Good Luck Ethan, Happy Birthday Lucy, and Stay Well Heidi - we all love you :)

September so far

So far this month we have been adjusting to somewhat of a schedule. Michaela has school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so if you add our Sunday to that and Soccer on Saturday, we rush out the door by 8:30 five days in a row now! If you don't know me well, you don't think 8:30 is early, but if you do know me well, (hi mom!) then you understand that it's a huge undertaking for me to have kids up, eaten, dressed, matching, hair done and ready to go :) At the very least, we are getting it!

We have done a few fun things so far. The Children's Museum being one of them. Michaela had a BLAST and Heidi was a little overwhelmed. She played with a few things though :)

shopping for dinner groceries
checking out at the store with the nice clerk :)

both girls loved the water table!

Michaela LOVED the castle slide!
my little fisherwomen! -note Heidi just standing there like its normal for her to just stand up without holding onto something.....
cooking dinner for daddy!
Heidi did love all the pillows in a little reading nook - she and I spent a lot of time right here!
Michaela in Action! The first week of soccer she wanted nothing to do with it, so this week, I spent a billion dollars on a really cool Barbie - seriously, I bought a good one - and told her that if she played for the whole hour, it was all hers! Yep. I bribed her. And one day when she leads her team in the world cup, if you listen to her thank you speech, she will list this barbie bribe as what got her started. And I will wipe a tear of pride from my eye and be thankful I kept the packaging for her scrapbook :)

The PRIZE!!!!
And to prove that I am actually involved in my girls' life - here I am, for once not the one behind the camera :)

And now for the long commentary so I can count this blog as a journal too. If you don't want to read it - totally fine. There are no more pictures :)

Michaela had done such a great job in school! Her teachers love her, (duh) and she already has a few little friends that she wants to come over to play. I am even pretending not to be shy and have made some mommy friends! So far, the only tears at goodbye time have been mine, but I am getting used to it! There was one day last week that was a little bit harder for me than most, for the kids first week, the school time was increasing as the week went on. On Wednesday, she was supposed to go for an hour and a half. I was planning on doing some grocery shopping just a block away. Anyway, that morning, Michaela said her tummy felt yucky and she felt afraid to go to preschool. I told her we could just go watch and decide then if she was going to stay or go. Once we got there, she was fine and I asked her if she wanted me to stay, or if I should go shopping and come back. She was fine for me to leave. When I got to the parking lot, there was a mom and a dad, and each of their significant others arguing - LOUDLY. They were going on about who HAD to pick up the preschooler, and who cheated on who and how if one wouldn't have cheated then they wouldn't have to be arguing about picking up the kid that was his, or not his or whatever. Regardless of whose kid it was - they were swearing and slapping and it was nutso! I got this really dark feeling and scary thoughts going in my head about kidnapping and the dad going beserk in class...and of course I let my mind wander about shootings and my poor little baby stuck as a hostage in her classroom by a scary daddy who maybe wasn't the daddy! I was afraid that she had felt the Spirit that morning telling her not to go and I disregarded it for something I wanted more - her going to preschool.. So I freaked out - I called my mom and bawled about maybe Michaela had felt the spirit and it was telling her not to go and what if I forced her to go anyway and now what if she got kidnapped and I led her right into the trap?! How was I going to leave my baby with these strangers each day?!?!?! My mom talked me down from my little ledge, and I made it to the store and back, and I picked up my innocent bystander and all is well with preschool again. PS- the parents or not parents - whatever they are- got spoken to and it won't happen again....

Heidi is getting ready to walk! She sometimes just stands there, for maybe a minute at a time, and I can see her thinking about what to do next. She is defiantly the drama queen in our family. I don't know that I have ever seen a child so small pitch a fit so large! She can scream in octaves that sometimes, I look around to see if any glass has been shattered! On the flip side though, she is such a little snuggle bug, and we love her little giggles and kisses. She knows a few words in sign language, and can say, Tickle, mommy, dada, and something that we can only assume is Michaela! She very desperately wants to play soccer with the big kids, she sits in her stroller and kicks her legs and squeals if they come near her! She is a love :)

Michaela: Sneezes
Mommy: BLESS YOU!
Michaela: Thanks mommy, glad you blessed my boogies
Mommy:(didn't think too much of it) An hour or so passes
Mommy: Yuck - Michaela don't eat your boogers!!
Michaela: (Confused) But mommy - you blessed them to make me strong and healthy!!!

Mommy: Michaela! Is that pen I see on your leg AGAIN?!
Michaela: (Quickly covers her leg with her hand) Um, no mom, you are
wrong. It's not pen. Besides Strawberry Shortcake snuck into my room
and penned me when I was asleep.
Mommy: Michaela, don't lie to me, it's okay if it's pen on your body,
but lying hurts my feelings and we don't do it.
Michaela: Okay mommy, it's pen on my leg, and Strawberry did it!
Mommy: Michaela! Strawberry didn't draw on your leg.
Michaela: Oh mom, I don't want to talk about this right now, it's
making me to stressed out. I don't want to be stressed out right now
mom, there is too much pen on my body.

Michaela was being repremanded for something or other, and she wasn't
liking it to much. After a very thoughtful moment, she pulled her
little pants down and backed up to me and said, " here mom, just look
at my cute buns and you will be happy again!"

First day of the rest of Her Life!

Michaela has officially cracked the books! Last night was our first official school night, and I think we failed epically! There was no nutritious dinner, rather, a little of this and a little of that. Instead of reading scholarly periodicals I let Michaela watch Dora so I could catch up from being sick on vacation. Her jammies weren't clean yet, so she went to bed in a long t-shirt and cut off sweats with a stain on them and instead of sleeping in the cool, crisp sheets on her bed in a clean room, she - for the 7th night in a row - flopped onto the well worn sleeping bag on the floor in my room, right next to my dirty pile of clothes. Please note that I did not describe how the teeth brushing went. That is because she cried about brushing her teeth and didn't want to do it. She won the battle, and went to bed with dirty teeth. There was one thing we did right though, and I will be forever grateful for the successful start to a worthy tradition. Jordan gave Michaela a wonderful Father's Blessing on the night before she started school. It was such a sweet, wonderful blessing, and I felt so good knowing that my sweet baby was entering this fast paced world with Blessing's from Heaven. We sure love this girl, and are so happy to have her as the Leader in our family. Here's to you Michaela, my sassy little school girl!

Very Typical first day of school pose: All the kids out front, lined up, and ready to get into the car!
Such a great Daddy! He left work for an hour to be with us on this special day.
What a pretty girl! She was so excited to go in!
Melts.My.Heart.

Circle Time! -its a good thing her panties matched her skirt! Who know what we will be working on before Monday?!

Great Aunt Sally

For Labor Day weekend we road tripped it up to Cincinnati Ohio where my Grammy's sister, Sally lives. We stayed at her house for the night and were able to take her to dinner at the Spaghetti Factory. We had such a great time catching up - the last time we saw each other, I was 12 or so and we had quite different table talk going on! She is a wonderful person, and Michaela loved her. Heidi had a bit of a rough tight - like the worst in Heidi History- but all in all it was a great trip!

After Cincinnati, we did Columbus where there is an indoor water park. I wold have taken pictures, but I ended up being sick. If you know me -at all- you know I must ave felt pretty gross not to take any pictures!!

August Review

We had a busy August this year! We were lucky to have Shawnie with us for most of it, and now that she is back in Seattle being a beautiful High Schooler, we sure do miss her around!! Michaela keeps asking when it's going to be Christmas so she can see her Aunt Shawnie again.

August brought us lots of activities! Raspberry picking on a few occasions, visiting daddy at work, a few small road trips and lots of guests! I would have to say though, for one little girl, the highlight of August actually came today, Sep 2, because Michaela got to meet her best friend in the whole world - STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE!!! At our house, there isn't a day that goes by without Strawberry Shortcake something! Be it a movie, or the dolls, or playing pretend, even birthday parties- real or pretend -we are all about her at our house :) So, its wonderful for us that Jordan works at American Greetings, because Strawberry Shortcake is one of their "products" and today at their company picnic - guess who was there? Yep- Strawberry shortcake herself! I had one excited little girl and one pretty bewildered little baby :) Here are pictures of the happiest day of Michaela's life!

Heidi really didn't care, but we had to have a picture for her book too!

One happy Michaela! She has been talking nonstop about all her plans now that they have met. Playdates, slumber parties, going to preschool together and even picking strawberries with each other!

My raspberry picking team! Michaela is getting the hang of it and Heidi just eats and eats :)
This is one main reason it takes us so long to get our basket filled.....one of my pickers doubles as a taster!
Even my littlest picker is a taster most of the time! I am an island people!
Another reason it takes us so long to fill our basket.....this particular picker is also a runner, and sometimes the combination of running+carrying=berries all over the ground and an empty basket!
She is just pretty in this one
So is she
The perfect Michaela outfit - my Princess Monster!
Who needs a paper shredder when you have a campfire in the backyard?
Did I mention that my parents came to visit? Quite a drive, but they broke it up to see my siblings - one in Idaho and one in Wyoming, and we were their last stop. It was so much fun to have them here! We visited Kirtland, a really cool park, did lots of barbequing and plenty more.

At the park - Heidi is ready daddy!

This picture is just for you Grammy Ginny! Notice that the only kid going down this slide is yours!!
Grandma Sunshine and one of her Sunshines
Weeeeee for Grandpas that play barbies and princesses! I think he was glad Michaela was out of nail polish :)
Barbeque! See - there is Shawnie

Here is to September being as wonderful - maybe a little cooler - as August was!
